Chicken Old Ladies On A Bus

There are 3 whole Google pages of results for this recipe. But still I felt compelled to include this version because it comes from an Atlanta Junior League Cookbook (Atlanta Cooknotes) and includes lots of good cooking tips and anecdotal stories about Atlanta landmarks. I never heard of it before reading this cookbook- and maybe you haven't either! The recipe was developed from a conversation overheard between two old ladies on a bus.

Chicken Old Ladies on a Bus:

 

Planning: can prepare ahead         Baking Time: 1 1/4 hours
Storage: can freeze                        Servings: 4 to 6
Prep Time: 10 minutes

1/3 cup orange marmalade
1/3 cup hot (or not) BBQ Sauce
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
2 tablespoons lemon juice
2 pounds chicken pieces
salt & pepper to taste

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Combine marmalade, BBq sauce, Worcestershire, and lemon juice, mixing well. Place chicken skin side up in a 9 x 13 inch pan, lined with foil. Sprinkle with salt and pepper. Pour sauce over chicken and bake for 1 hour, basting occasionally. Increase heat to 400 degrees and back 15 minutes longer.

Serve with broccoli and rice or egg noodles.
